Amberlyn has a passion for standing out and making a difference, and her sense of creativity is what makes her passion so easy for her. She is a senior at UNCW, finishing up a degree in Communication Studies. She knows that she will thrive in the Communication Industry because of her skill for storytelling and understanding her audience.
As a student athlete at UNCW, she has developed the necessary skills of leadership, communication, time management, balancing rigorous schedules, and having exceptional work ethic. Amberlyn is very personable and has three years of customer service experience. She has completed the Hootsuite Platform Certification as well as the Social Marketing Certification. Through taking Essentials of IMC, she has developed the necessary strengths in advertising, public relations, promotions, social media campaigns, social media marketing, and word of mouth marketing. She loves to meet new people and has a passion for making a positive difference in people’s lives.

Nikki Noomé was born and raised in Pretoria, South Africa, and moved to the United States in 2016. She is pursuing a degree in Communication Studies with a concentration in Integrated Marketing Communication, and minors in international studies and digital arts. She is especially interested in digital arts and is currently working to obtain InDesign certification; she is also proficient in Illustrator. Nikki has enjoyed creating art since a young age and has found a lot of joy in combining her hobbies with her formal education.
Nikki is an active member of the Wilmington community by investing in the lives of middle and high schoolers by volunteering at Port City Community Church. She is very passionate about serving alongside others and the community she is a part of there. This led her to apply for an internship with the Student Ministries team, where she got accepted and completed two years. Through the internship, she learned the inner workings of what it means to lead a youth ministry. When Nikki is not running around doing crazy things with the students, you can find her spending some quality time with her close friends or curled up with a good book.
Nikki has a remarkable work ethic and has spent the last two and a half years working for Campus Life Conferences, Events, and Reservations Office as an Office Assistant. Through this job, she has gained a lot of professional work experience and it gave her the opportunity to meet other students. Some of the professional work experiences that Nikki has gained while at CER include communications, more specifically, telecommunications, email correspondence, and in-person communication. She has become proficient in applications such as Excel, EMS Software, the university’s scheduling system used to support and facilitate campus scheduling, and Social Tables, software used to create floor diagrams for events. Nikki has also had to step into multiple different roles throughout her time at CER where she got the opportunity to learn how to operate Lumina Theater technology and gained experience in Event Management.
The time Nikki has spent at UNCW has prepared her well for her future endeavors. Some of her main accomplishments from her classes include a prototype of a phone application and the creation of a brand identity guide (BIG). Both these projects have continued to inspire Nikki to pursue a career in graphic design.

Corbin Minor grew up on the water in Bath, North Carolina and has a passion for spreading the love of watersports through professional instruction. He has spent his entire life around the water. His knowledge and passion in watersports show through the success of his students and joy of his customers. Corbin is an excellent communicator when it comes to administering instructions to his students.
Corbin is an effective communicator in both professional and casual settings. He is able to analyze and break down any form of communication to maximize proficiency. Corbin’s proficiency through communicating consists of active listening and responding in a written or verbal matter. Corbin has his professional Hootsuite certification and is an expert in analyzing trends and organizing campaigns online. As a communication studies graduate, Corbin uses rhetorical analysis to create content that has high engagement on social media. He has created campaigns, along with multiple business portfolios that showcase his work. Corbin wants to use his elite communication skills to create a bond with the world around him that prospers.

Ciarra Kennedy was born in Duplin County, NC. Even though she grew up in an exceedingly small town, she is extremely outgoing and has never met a stranger. She is highly active in her church where she helps lead her youth group and is on the praise and worship team. Ciarra is a current communication studies major at UNC Wilmington with a minor in business and will graduate in December with a bachelor’s degree in Arts.
She currently is employed by Rooks Dentistry, Grace Covenant Church and Beautifully You by Kat Delos Santos, Nails Salon where she manages all their social media outlets. Through her studies at UNCW she has gained so much knowledge in IMC. She has taken many different IMC classes like strategic writing and message design which will help her in the career path she is waiting to pursue after graduation. She also has Hootsuite Platform certification and has skills in team leadership and communication. Upon graduation, she plans to own her own business managing social media accounts for different companies and organizations. Additionally, she would like to start an event planning business. Being that her degree is broad, but she has pursued classes that best fit her interests, she is well prepared for the path ahead.
Her brand desire is to maintain a personal, professional and positive image on social media and in the real world. She wishes to always stay vulnerable during the good and bad while also remaining positive and joyful during every circumstance. She desires to cultivate and shape her own life in a way that others will see her life as a light in a world that tends to be dark at times.
Emily Wolfslayer is from Richmond, VA but has been attending her undergraduate program in Wilmington, NC. She is expected to graduate University of North Carolina Wilmington in May 2023 with a Communication Studies Major and a Leadership Minor. Emily is a current and active member of Lamda Pi Eta, the Communication Studies Honors Program at UNCW. She spent a year volunteering with Paws4People, a local non-profit organization dedicated to training service dogs for people in the community.
Emily has over five years of experience working in the food and beverage industry as a hostess, waitress, and bartender. The reason she loves this industry is the amount of communication the job entails. This past summer she completed an internship with East Coast Entertainment working alongside the marketing department. During this internship, she learned organizational skills, how to market to the brand’s demographic, and how to develop content for the company’s social media channels. Emily has earned two certifications in the communication field: The Hootsuite Platform Certification and The Social and Behavioral Responsible Conduct of Research CITI Program Certification.

Mary McArthur is from Charlotte, North Carolina. She is a senior at the University of North Carolina Wilmington majoring in Communication Studies with a focus on Integrated Marketing Communications. She transferred from College of Charleston in fall 2019 during her sophomore year. Mary is also an active member in the sorority, Phi Mu. She served as Panhenellic Chair from January 2020 to December 2021 where she assisted the panhellenic delegate. Her role was to attend the weekly panhellenic meetings with every sorority and provide information to the rest of the members in Phi Mu. This improved Mary’s professional life by helping her learn time management as well as how important it is to communicate with your employees, or in her case, sorority sisters.
When Mary came to college she was not sure what she wanted to do with her professional career. However, her sophomore year she took an introduction to integrated marketing communications class. She took this class during Spring 2020, so she could not complete the class in person. However, she was able to complete a project about how North Carolina State University can improve their social media for potential students to find information more easily. This project helped Mary realize that she now wants to work with different brands and help them improve their social media and their brand name. Mary has completed the Hootsuite Platform Training to further social media management learning. She also practices communicating with different types of people at the restaurant she works at.With an extensive knowledge of brand management and how to successfully create a positive brand, Mary hopes to have a career in public relations. Mary is a very persistent and a hard working individual. Through her knowledge of communication and branding and using four pillars that are very important to her, she will succeed.These four pillars are: 1. To make a difference and give back to people. 2. To be involved in the community, 3. To use my best skills which are being creative and talking to people, and 4. To build connections.
Joshua Hodges is a freelance French and German translator. He specializes in storytelling and translating narratives in long-form media that require nuance and care. Having grown up in a diverse community with speakers of many different languages, Joshua knows the importance of the culture of communication, and seeks to bridge gaps between people of all kinds.
He taught both Spanish and English at Cape Fear Community College to speakers of various fluency, developing the skills necessary to adapt communication methods to match the audience, and has moderated social media accounts with global audiences. When he’s not spending his time volunteering with local environmental protection groups, he can be found taking care of the chickens and geese at his family farm or raising tropical flora in his flowerbed.
