Noun: a sickness, that has recently been becoming more common, where a girl, or boy, is extremely obsessed with Justin Bieber, and everything related to him. There is currently no cure.

Justin Bieber is a name known through every household in America, whether a teenage girl is living there or not. This heartthrob has been breaking hearts with his precious smile and his beautiful vocals since releasing a single in 2009. His signature move: the hair swoop, has been making girls drool and his voice has recently been compared to a combination of Fergie and Jesus. So, how did this pre-pubescent boy become such an America’s sweetheart?

When Justin was just a boy, his mother decided that he had a raw and unforgettable talent. She began posting homemade videos of her son singing his heart out all over YouTube. The number of views that these videos received was astronomical. Every day, hundreds of thousands of music fans viewed his videos and eventually, major industry insiders such as Scooter Braun, began to take notice of Justin’s talent. Braun quickly began recording Bieber and got him the opportunity to sing for R&B singer and songwriter, Usher. He then signed with Raymond Braun Media Group. In 2009, Justin released his first single “One Time” that put him in the Top 30 around the world, and later his album entitled My World went platinum in the United States. Bieber is definitely America’s newest heart-throb.

Can you Belieb it? He’s a talented singer, song writer, and can make any girl fawn over him.

Justin Bieber’s mom started posting videos of Justin’s performances at the age of twelve and her efforts paid off because this lead to his famous discovery. Bieber can reach out to his fans better by uploading his music videos via his YouTube channel. His “One Time” Video earned him millions of hits through his channel. Braun took advantage of the YouTube channel in promoting Justin Bieber before he was even signed under RBMG. Justin Bieber continuously makes new posts of his music videos and his appearances on television shows and behind the scenes clips. Bieber found the right avenue to showcase his talents by using YouTube and eventually other social media outlets, such as opening a Twitter account so he could interact with his fans and supporters or you can find his Facebook page for updates. There is no denying through all these social medias Justin Bieber’s career has succeeded. It is easy to see that it’s not just young girls who have contracted Bieber Fever with the outrageous amounts of status updates, tweets, and blog posts that are all about him.

So, what makes Justin Bieber a brand known through every household in America? It’s not just the combination of his signature hair swoop, his purple button down, his skinny colored jeans, or his sensational voice. Justin has branched out to creating perfumes and colognes, while also making himself incredible to the world of philanthropy. Justin makes sure to give back to his fans. He even spent Valentine’s Day, not with his girlfriend, but with one of his dearest fans, Avalanna Routh, a six year old suffering from an aggressive form of cancer.

Will there ever be a cure for Bieber Fever? We sure hope not! With his angelic voice and his sweet face glossing every tabloid on newsstands, who would want a cure?

Is it sad that the Justin Bieber blog was the first one to catch my eye? It’s probably not surprising, but I’m also not ashamed to admit that I might also have a slight case of Bieber Fever. It’s hard not to when he’s so talented and good looking. Who cares if he’s a little younger, cougars are totally in style! Anyway, I thought this blog was interesting since it compared Justin Bieber to a brand. Also, the reference to CMM was a good twist. I agree that Bieber has done a lot to uphold his image even while he isn’t in the spotlight. He has worked hard as a young adult to get to where he is now and I am sure that a lot of people would agree that he has maintained a positive image throughout it all.

I agree with your connection to a celebrity’s life style and CMM. I think about all of the celebrities who lost fans as a result of actions not supporting their public image. For an example, Lindsey Lohan’s drug problem. Lohan was viewed as a talented and innocent singer/actress (star of the popular Parent Trap movie) and acquired a majority of her fans because of that image. She let a lot of people down when the press released her drug addiction problems and criminal records. It is important for celebrities to live up to their public image just as it is important for brands to remain true to their brand image/promise.

I must say that I have Bieber Fever. The one thing that I love about Justin Bieber now is how he is changing his look with his age yet he still remains loyal to the fans who created his brand empire. Since he is OFFICIALLY LEGAL his voice, obviously, is changing and with his new single out I find myself obsessed with it. The reason I enjoy it so much is because it reminds me of Justin Timberlake’s solo album ‘Justified’. The Biebs is extended his brand, he is extended the story of the Bielebers and reaching out to a whole new audience which makes him an even bigger force than before.

I am one of the few who do not have that Beiber Fever, but in reading this blog, I must say that I now have more respect for Justin. Though his fans are of all ages, the majority of them are probably in their pre-teen, teen years. I think it is really smart of him to keep up his good brand image. These kids look up to him and the fact that he is branching out to do other things and helping with philanthropies says a lot about him. It is sad to see other people in the public eye fall into making bad desicions and taking their fame for granted. I feel that it lets down all the fans that are looking at them as role models. Keeping up with your brand image is really important and can make or break your brand.

I’m not going to lie, I may have a small crush on Justin Bieber, even if he is a couple of years younger than me. I really enjoyed this post because I agree that Justin Bieber did an outstanding job of getting his name out there, however I don’t think he knew just how “big” he would become in our entertainment/media world! Even if you do not like Justin Bieber, you can’t argue with the fact that this kid has branded himself in such a way that he has had quite the impact on society, especially with teenage girls! Justin Bieber has maintained a positve image and this has benefited him. As a well known person in the entertainment industry, you must maintain a positive brand or else you will loose your connection to your audience or in Justin’s case his fans.

I definitely have Bieber Fever! He may be young but he has done so many great things that top most of the others his age. Each time I read a story or see a picture of Justin, he’s giving back to his fans. He’s doing things that give him such a good name in the spotlight. I’ve never read a negative article about him, except for those who don’t like him. I’m proud of him for staying strong and breaking the expectation most of us have on younger celebrities. There’s not many left that still have a positive image, GO BIEBS!

Justin Bieber is not only a talented musician but he is also extremely well marketed. Not only through his label, but his online presence is one of the strongest on the market. His twitter feed has over 19 million followers and continues to grow. There is hardly a day that goes by that he doesn’t thank his fans, ask for their opinions, or share some new project he’s working on. Even if you can’t stand his music, you can’t deny his heart. As mentioned in the blog post, he spent Valentine’s day with a 6-year-old fan. This is not his first act of charity, nor will it be his last. When he returns to Canada, he visits the soup kitchen’s that once fed his family and he gives back. Giving back is such a huge part of his brand that even the people who turn off the radio when his (If I may say) beautiful voice streams in, can’t hate him entirely. With his new album coming out, who knows how many more people he will convert into Belieber’s!

While I am a fan of Justin Bieber, I don’t have “Bieber fever”. I think that he’s a great public role model for young kids, and that’s something that America desperately needs. He, unlike many other child stars, will not let his fame lead him down a dark spiral, like Caroline mentioned. His philanthropic efforts are inspiring because not many child stars that I know of are philanthropic. His efforts to expand with products like perfume and nail polish are great because while they are aimed at younger girls, anyone can enjoy a good perfume or cute nail polish color. I believe between this and his new album his fame and good role modeling will continue to skyrocket.
