Ryan Cook

Ryan is a current senior at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She is a communication studies major with a focus in integrated marketing communication. When she is not attending classes, Ryan can be found in any of her extracurricular activities. She is an active member of the Delta Zeta sorority at UNCW and a third-year member of the UNCW Cheerleading team. Through both of these extracurriculars, Ryan has been able to acquire some first-hand experience with maintaining a brand’s image on social media. Ryan was given the opportunity to serve as her sorority’s Public Relations Chair in 2021 and has been overseeing the UNCW Cheerleading team’s Instagram since early 2022. Ryan says she has learned what it is like to communicate socially for a brand, and the differences in marketing for herself, versus a brand. 

Aside from being a full-time college student, Ryan also currently works at Palm Beach Tan in Mayfaire. Here, she learns team skills, customer service, financial responsibility, and problem-solving skills. Ryan claims this job will be beneficial for her in the future, because although it is not directly related to IMC, “the skills that I learn from this job will help me in all aspects of my future.” Ryan is from Elon, North Carolina, where she grew up. She has cheered since she was three years old and has learned various leadership skills from the sport. Ryan uses these leadership skills not only in her school work but also in her extracurriculars. She has held many positions within her sorority and on the UNCW Cheer team. Being a leader and a learner are some of her strongest skills, and she is eager to use them in the field of IMC.
