Hello! My name is Audra Bullard and I’m a UNCW senior graduating this May! I am double majoring in communication studies with a focus on integrated marketing communication (IMC), as well as film studies, where my interests include documentary filmmaking, producing, and film rhetoric. Back in 2017, I co-produced a short documentary called Facing Navassa, which examines the dark history of environmental racism and contamination in southeastern North Carolina, which has lasting effects to this day. The film went on to become official selections in 10 film festivals, and it also took third place in the Philadelphia Environmental Film Festival! While traveling to represent our film at various festivals was amazing, I learned something more important than anything else: I have a voice, and I can use that voice to make change. This realization prompted me to intern with encore magazine last semester, where I used my voice to raise awareness about domestic violence in our community, female self-defense, and hurricane relief efforts in the aftermath of Florence. Looking ahead, I am excited to see how IMC allows me to use my voice to make a difference in the future.
