John Allen is a current senior at UNCW majoring in Communication and minoring in Leadership. John Allen grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina and moved to Wilmington to attend UNCW in the fall of 2020. John Allen was born with a medical condition called Spina Bifida which has affected him a lot of ways physically, and academically. Despite him having a medical condition that he battles daily he does not let that affect him or discourage him from pursuing his passions. Since moving to Wilmington and becoming a student at UNCW, he has gotten involved in a lot of extracurricular activities and found himself volunteering and interning at different organizations and student organizations. John Allen has loved getting involved in his church which is Port City Community Church and their college ministry called Overflow. In addition to being involved with Overflow, he is a current production intern for Port City and helps with all the video components. He also loves volunteering his time to being a small group leader for current high school senior guys. Outside of his time in classes and church, John Allen also is part of the Seahawk Digital Network which streams sports events at UNCW through FLOSports.
John Allen’s passion for sports, faith, and people make him who he is today despite the physical challenges he faces daily. John Allen hopes that his passion for sports and people can help him pursue his dream in making a career in interacting with fan bases of sports teams or organizations. John Allen has a mission to using his passions for sports, people and using his faith to make people seen, loved and heard no matter what environment he is in and be able to connect with others.
