Emily Wood

“Learning and Leading to Build the Future of Branding”

Emily is a senior from Gastonia, NC studying communication with an integrated marketing concentration and a journalism minor at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. During her four years, Emily has taken several courses in marketing, branding, strategic messaging, and advertisement campaigning. She has experience in social media marketing from her recent work as a social media intern for a local bed and breakfast in Wilmington. She is currently a project management intern for the Brooklyn-based advertising agency Laundry Service, who works with brands such as Nike and Amazon.
Emily is also a strong leader. As a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority at UNC-Wilmington, she has worked in various roles. Currently, Emily is the membership recruitment director for the organization where she serves on the executive board. Her job includes planning and budgeting the chapter’s recruitment events in coordination with UNC Wilmington’s Panhellenic council and Fraternity and Sorority Life, confirming all membership eligibility for potential new members, and overseeing public relations functions that included planning events and posting on social media accounts for the chapter to promote the organization’s brand. Emily is also the founder and director of marketing and advertising for the UNCW student-led magazine “Allora” which is a creative magazine that uses student work and insight to highlight all things fashion, entertainment, and design.
