Deb Spair is currently an undergrad student at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW) studying a degree in communication studies with an economics minor. After she graduates in December, Deb plans to get her masters degree in integrated marketing and communication at UNCW as well. Deb is an avid golfer and a member of the women’s golf team at UNCW. She is frequently a starting player for the team. When she is not busy with golf or school, she enjoys working out, doing yoga, reading, baking, going to the beach, and hanging out with her friends.
Besides being passionate about golf and academics, Deb enjoys teaching the game of golf to juniors. She has previous experience working at the NC State junior golf summer programs along with the First Tee of the Triangle junior programs. Furthermore, Deb has been the lead camp counselor at the Pinehurst junior golf academies for the past three summers. She aspires to become a teaching professional after college, specifically to help grow the game for junior girls in a male-dominated sport. She feels that she will be able to use her communication degree to help conduct her lessons and understand how people best intake and learn information. Deb is very familiar with various communication styles and strives to understand how each individual student learns. Her communication style is very direct as she gets to the point without leaving anyone confused. She hopes to utilize the skills she learns throughout her undergrad and previous job experiences to contribute back to the game of golf.
