Hi there! Im back with another blog.
It is that time of the year when EVERYONE in Wilmington seems to be talking about one thing and one thing only: the Azalea Festival. If you’re a freshman at UNCW, you probably are a little confused at what the hype is all about.
Basically, this festival is Wilmington’s annual community celebration. It is considered the largest festival of its kind in all of North Carolina. It has been around every April since 1948! The festival consists of “natural beauty, big-name entertainment, festive galas, fun family events and Southern hospitality” The events include concerts, garden tours, art shows, fairs, parades, luncheons and many more! (click here to see the full schedule)
Some of the events, such as the Airlie Luncheon party are more exclusive and reserved for sponsors and their friends. Tickets run at about $1500 for just two people! However, the concerts and other events are way more affordable for a college student!
The Azalea festival is definitely something you should check out if you live in or near Wilmington!
See ya there!

Hey Manuela
Im glad you picked the Azalea festival to talk about. It is a very creative, profitable and engaging festival for our community. I liked that you noted how pricey it can get and informed a different demographic on how to celebrate with everyone else in a more reasonable and cost effective way! However, I think your arrangement and style could have been done differently. Unfortunately your images were not of high quality and are difficult to see. Your link was very helpful as well
Manuela,
Thank you for this blog. I have always wondered what goes on during this well-known Azalea festival. Also, thank you for including the schedule embedded in the page, it would be very useful in figuring out what events would work best for me if I were to go. This is an inviting blog that is easy to read and the pictures help me visualize the festival so I can get ready for it.
Hey! I enjoyed reading this piece on the Azalea Festival. It is such an amazing time to get to know members in your community as well as help local businesses thrive! When I was a freshman I was so confused about what it was as well. I didn’t even know what an Azalea looked like. I knew that the Garden party was very elite, but had no idea that it was so expensive to go! Thanks!
Hey there Manuela!
I honestly could not tell you how helpful this blog was. I just transferred here from NJ back in January and I knew nothing about the Azalea Festival… unfortunately I’m reading this article after the festival was taken place but now that I have a better insight of what its all about Im definitely gonna go in the years to come!! Thank you!

Hey Manuela! I’ve been going to the Azalea Festival since my freshman year at UNCW and it always bewilders me when other UNCW students have never heard of it! I hope you had a good time this year. Super useful to put the schedule of events up in your post as well.
