Looking back at senior year, it has truly been a roller coaster of emotions for me. From being ecstatic to finally getting close to graduating to panicking of the thought of leaving Wilmington, I can truly say that my experience at UNCW has been one for the books. From the amazing lifelong friendships I have made with my best friends in my sorority, to having the opportunity to study abroad in southern France, to meeting my sweet boyfriend of two years, and spending lazy days at Wrightsville Beach, I couldn’t have asked for a better 4 years.
When I look back at my freshman self, it is crazy how time has flown by. I had no idea that getting an acceptance letter from UNCW would have such a lovely impact on my life. I will miss everything about this place from days on the dock, Sunday Fun Days, events for Chi O, being on campus, living in this little sandy beach town, and everything and more. You don’t realize how fast time goes until senior year, so take advantage of every opportunity that you have and work hard. Freshmen- I am so jealous of you.
I couldn’t be happier with my experience at UNCW. Wilmington is such fantastic place and I can’t wait to have reunion weekends with the girls (we’ve already started planning). Thanks for the memories 910, and I’ll be seeing you oh so very soon!
With love,
Megan Suggs
Megan, I have to agree with you on many levels. As a student graduating in December it is finally hitting me that Graduation is real, and coming fast. It’s nice to reflect back on Wilmington and all the cool things that came with the UNCW college experience. It’s obvious that you mentioned the beach, which is a wonderful amenity to have at our disposal, but it’s nice you also included a photo from Downtown because that is a wonderful area here in town, rich of history that is sometimes overlooked. UNCW does a nice job of balancing these amenities with a good education, and the opportunity to further your education in many ways such as study abroad. I spent some time in Singapore one summer and it was an invaluable experience! We definitely picked the right school, and I know that it has certainly set me up for success after graduation as we prepare to hit the professional world.
With only one semester to go, I myself am getting close to the end of my college career. Similar to many others, I am amazed at how much time has flown by. Its seems like just yesterday, I was in the midst of a tearful goodbye with my best friends as I packed up the car and moved from a small town in southern Maryland to a thriving beach community. I never would have expected the package containing my acceptance letter to be so life changing. As many prepare to embark on the next chapter in their lives, I am turning the page, looking forward to the last remaining months I have left as a UNCW Seahawk.
Being from Wilmington, I completely understand why you fell in love with UNCW. You can’t beat the beautiful campus and living 10 minutes from the beach. Even though I’ve lived here my entire life, knowing graduation is coming up is terrifying. Good luck with everything and congrats on graduating!
Megan, I’m going to be a senior in the fall and it’s terrifying. I’m in Phi Mu here so I just watched our seniors become alumni last night and it hit pretty hard. I’m also not ready to ever leave this place and am all too grateful for the memories it has given me. I am also studying abroad in France this summer so that is what is keeping my mind off of graduating next year.
Megan, this is all so true. I am a junior and I am already coming to the realization that Wilmington is one of the best places in North Carolina that I do not want to leave. Time flies while you are in college and it is so important to take advantage of all of the opportunities that come your way and to never live your college life with regret. I am in a sorority as well and it has been one of the best things I have ever done. Without my sorority, I do not know where I would be in college today and it has been a true blessing. I cannot wait to plan reunions with my sisters as well!
